In the beginning, after being influenced through the shadows she observed on the grass of the trees, she worked for months to develop a technique which did not depict the subject in a 2-dimensional picture. Instead, the object is transformed into a reproduction of itself and the canvas is the vehicle for its individual interpretation of the subject, particularly when the subjects are live or perishable objects like people or fruits. The style that Alexa Meade paints has an ephemeral quality, and all that remains of Alexa Meade is her photograph. Photographs and painting are together to produce an unflattering two-dimensional space that is trompe-l'oeil. At certain locations, the three-dimensional space can be seen, for example, near the eye or the hair. Meade has integrated her model paintings into the 3D space that surrounds them. The interaction between them as well as the world they created can be achieved. In this way, she blurs the lines between painting, photography, performance and installation.
